RECIPE FOR HAPPINESS
11 January 2006

It’s simply
about joining
them (like dots), really
. . . the good moments,
I mean.

It can be done, you know.

(I had lots of them
today
- in between, well . . .
The Others.)

You just need to hem them
and then tug them a little
especially at the corners
to cover The Others
and then
stitch them
together
quickly
and
neatly

or
as quickly
and as neatly
as you can

and Bob is your friend.
You see, he can’t be your uncle
because nobody – or almost nobody -
has an Uncle Bob.
Raise your hand those with an Uncle Bob?

. . . You see, very few of you
have an Uncle Bob
so he will have to be your friend
- except, of course, for those of you
who have a real Uncle Bob.

Now,
with The Others
stitched safely away,
and your good friend, Bob,
. . . what more could you possibly want?

You're right.  I have no Uncle Bob and know no one who does. Ha! Very unique and interesting poem you've got here.  I love it!

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

Thank you, Belle.  It actually is so easy – it is we who complicate things.  Thank you for your kind words, and yes, I will ever write on.  Smiles.

Thank you, Spiros.  I am glad it makes more sense to you each time you read it and that you enjoyed it.

Dark Stranger, thank you for your beautiful DS-comment.  Smiles.

Well...I'm not even going to pretend that I 'get' this.   What I do know is that it made me smile...and I like that.  As I read this, it reminded me of the time that Mrs. King left her front door open and I could see her living room (was that your mind you left the door open for us see?)   Enjoyed the write...as always.

Giggles, Yann – glad you saw it and enjoyed it!  Yes, I think it is a good idea to remember it!

Thank you for your response, Steaven.  I am glad you enjoyed it and that it made you smile – methinks he got it after all!  Because that is what it was meant to do.  In a way, it is perhaps like Mrs King’s living room, except that everyone was invited.  What I was getting at is that you need to work at happiness, but that it is in actual fact very easy.  You just need to join the little pockets of happiness – and that is where most of the work comes in – and ignore/cover/get rid of the pockets of unhappiness.  Then there was a purposely random play on the phrase “and Bob’s your uncle” meaning “and it is as simple as that.”
