Dear Time,

You swallowed us whole
the way grains of sand
follow the wind into ululations,
you swallowed us lovely,

you loved me
in the curlicue snow,
zigzag through January,
your memory dark now,

my pudding, my thin crustacean,
sideways in the late afternoon,
the tetrahedron too has its symmetries,

such a luxury to lay here,
unencumbered, red anomolies if sound
abound in the heart,

soft muscle of wet clay,
so far from a cliche,
unless beating is innocent,

though innocence is not as supple as you think,
nor as fragile, nor as perfumed,

my flotsam, my foliage unfurling like parchment,
wryly our love burgeons into a red balloon,
a mere bauble,

for between these things
regret gathers like tiny red thumbprints,
like tulips in your eyes, specs of amber,
an amulet, an avatar of mere regret,

the hours are blue laden this evening,
my leather ankle and penchant for pearls,

my age Old, burnished and bruised,
my hair mere wisps, my hand caked,
spongy as November,

my dear Relentless, my dear Aging,
your voice tinny, dissonant and coaxing,

when midnight, my Coquette, was what you said,
though never what you meant.

you say things in ways I never  can~~

Well I am not even going to try to pick and choose my favorite verse.
Each one draws circles around my emotions, and blends in slow motion like watercolors in the rain.

I am giddy over this.  Your poetry is over the top, in a very good way!!

This poem spoke such ending and pain, each verse breathtaking as the last.

I always enjoy reading your work for the vocabulary refresher alone, and this one was no disappointment in that area...but this line:

"innocence is not as supple as you think,
nor as fragile, nor as perfumed" ...well, I must admit that I am still relishing it.

I read silently
Then I whispered each word
And I love this poem.

You unfurl this like parchment continents, or magic carpets... so much good imagery skillfully worded.
I do like the tetrahedron reference, as the winter sun and angular architecture can certainly conspire to produce them at times.
