Life's Wait

I stablilize the fall of me by leaning against
the roughness, concrete provides.
I pressed my back against the wall,
the weight of life, bearing down on all sides.

Confusion turning me green with inexperience,
the bounds of which, I have no control.
It is my fate, my doom ordained
to be naked in thought, shelled in this very soul.

~~*~~

Eyes are watching, the feeding of time,
the navigating, wending one's way
through the course of a lifetime, miscarriage of plans
with treasures still lost, in the unknown of each day.

Demons attach to my mind within hold
playing hide and seek, in a bittersweet whorl.
Awakening to light, of the truth in its firm,
what I share with the shadows, mine begins to unfurl.

What lies ahead, I can't turn back in time
the film of this shoot, unwinding its will.
I can't cry wolf, for each lamb that returns
to stealing my warmth in the shearing of, still.

The coldness I feel, the graveness of thought
of promises once made, in honor of me.
The gates of my path, seem now to be closed,
with tinting of eyes to a lesser degree.

~~*~~

My skin tarnished by the touch of hands, kneading more
leaves me in a colorless world, a window away from the after, before.

~~*~~

I love how the shadows move and meld.  This was an emotional heart speak.
If I've learned anything in my old age, it is that people are not always kind,
or whom they appear to be.... and we can't change them if we tried.
I think  that is where sensitivity comes into play, you either have it or you don't.

You write so nice, Maur~

You aren't so old , but you are absolutely correct about sensitivity...either you have it or you don't, thanks Lor.

Maureen
This is just so poetically elegant and the mood so melancholy but yet beautiful in presentation.

Hey Mo.

Always a fan of your introspection, and this one resounds with me today, as I too find myself asking myself if I would do some things all over again.

(When I find myself saying "yes", I tend to think on but not quite the same way...)

loved this, missed you.

Nobody's fault but mine.

this is one cool write...I'm still trying to digest

"I can't cry wolf, for each lamb that returns
to stealing my warmth in the shearing of, still."

...cool...very cool
