Come walk with me beside the stream
Through the woods yet to return to green
Ice along the edges makes a picture white frame
Hats and gloves ward off the winter wind
This walk is about the warmth of a friend
If silent or not we commune the same
Glancing to memories of another day
When we first walked along this way
I can feel you here although I’m alone
You’re just a ghost from years gone by
And I find a smile amidst my cry
So I finally just head home.

Walk with me on our familiar trail
I’ll laugh and you’ll wag your tail

For Muddy, my chocolate lab now running the trails of heaven

Oh, Peter.  This is so precious and beautiful – the same doggy as in your previous poem, I am sure, as the details fit.  I love your poem and can see the two of you very clearly and how happy you were together.

The tears are rolling down my cheeks for Muddy, who, I can assure you is frolicking in Heaven with my horse, Flicka, my cat Tigger and my dog Daisy and all your previous animals and animally people-family.  Flicka has been there since 28 April 2002 and even if Muddy went there earlier they will have met up.  Flicka meets all the animals (and the very special animally people) who arrive at the gates of Heaven, and shows them around and introduces them to everyone, especially those they know who have gone before them and he makes sure that they are happy and have everything they need.  Since Daisy, my Maltese poodle arrived in Heaven on 18 December 2009, and Tigger my tabby cat arrived there on 26 October 2010, they help Flicka with that, along with a whole lot of other things they do for everyone in Heaven and me here on Earth and other people who are very special.

Peter,Love it, Love it, Love it!!!  Reminds me of something I wrote where you don't know 'till the tail wags. Heartwarming.

I can relate, my friend. There is nothing like the love of your dog and its love back to you. Loved this poem.

Awwww, so much sweetness.  Lovely and heartfelt visuals.

I don't have a dog, but if I did I want a chocolate lab.

someday!!
