Listening to every heart

Thursday Poem on a Tuesday, again…

Well, darling girl, you did it
again. Your knowing smile
is simply outrageous…
I think even He might be shading
His eyes.

You always knew that if my hands
were full of things to do, that I
would work even more to complete
those self-made tasks…
you were always right.

Today I coordinated my work dates
to my computer and pocket calendar…
and when it came to March 17 holiday…
I thought of your Irish parties.

Today I thought of you because of
the snow that is blanketing the state.
I can hear you now, talking about Phoenix
and warmth, and sunshine.

You always thought ahead for supplies
but enjoyed it even more if I braved the
wonderland to do something extra
like shopping for you, then come
for lunch, or just a visit,
which was always more than
just two friends, talking.

And now, now you took time to make
sure that I have new ways to remember
you. You must have whispered in the ear
of the employer that “yes, she enjoys
Hospice” and “yes, she needs to continue
writing” and yes…all of my dreams,
Dear, are coming true. And so the
part time job was created.

Today, I thought of you, when you allowed
as that I would bingo twice in Scrabble…
Do you remember that time when I told you
that you held magic in your heart?

You still do. You always will. I miss you.
I love you.

K

I love your letter-poems, Sunshine. They are always so filled with love and the feeling that the one you are writing about is in the next town awaiting you expected letter. I always leave your part of the blue room with a little more sunshine in my heart. that is a good thing.

Karilea, bless your heart for not only keeping her memory alive for me but also for allowing me to get to know her better as I would have had we had the time. You have blessed me with both your friendships.
Love, Lori
