FUNNY THING
4 February 2011

It’s funny,
I think,
that sometimes
I cannot write
what is closest to me -

like now –
with all my heart I want to write about
Flicka and Tigger and Daisy in Heaven
and Benji and Cleo on Earth
but it rakes my heart into raw bleeding ridges
as it is too soon after Tigger’s and Daisy’s journey
and too soon since they and Flicka
sent me Benji and Cleo
who are such solace for me
in missing my Guardian Angels above
and such joy in loving them, my new Earth babies.

It’s funny too,
that it is a freshly turned eighteen-year old girl
from the far country of Namibia
and with whom I correspond by email
from time to time
who pointed this out to me.

Sometimes what we hold so dear to our hearts is something we have a difficult time in trying to explain, in a creative way, how we feel about their passing. Hopefully if you really want, and need, to express yourself the day will come, but it isn't good to try to rush it.

~ Some people are like a Slinky -- not really good for anything -- but you still can't help but smile when you shove them down the stairs. ~

Thank you, Jerry, for your kind, understanding words.  It's not really that I can't explain.  It is the pain.  It doubles me up – sometimes only metaphorically – other times physically too – and I do something else or find something else to write about in my attempts to alleviate the pain.  You are right.  I will be able to in time.  I have a little bit now and then – it all depends on my strength at the given moment.

Diana...by not writing about them, you have shown your love between all the lines.

Thank you, Faith.  I am glad you do.

Thank you, Belle.  I really appreciate that.

Thank you, Martie, for your deep understanding.  You know so well how they are my life.

Thank you, Karilea.  She (Nangula Nafuka – which I think is such a musical name, as so many African names are - OK, I am Africa-prejudiced, but nobody can argue that this particular name is musical! - smiles) is chronologically a child, but in maturity, logic, philosophy and especially compassion, is a wise old woman.  Hugs back to you, Karilea.
