She was a bit uncharacteristic
To the moons light
The same way a man canÕt see whatÕs behind his eyes
So he grabs a flashlight to see whatÕs there.

I watched atop the twelve-story building
The white paint on the ledge a bit chipped
With pigeons to the left of me circling for food

Her dress matched
The blue sea tiles
Where she use to
Prance along the sand
With her toes
Saying hello to the jellyfish of the water.

I watched her skin
Divide the road into two.

One to an endless path

Another to a forest of trees
that called you by your first name
As if their roots
Had known you
Since the day you were born.

A place where your hips told
the margins of the forest
to wait until autumn,

Like the children of the snow
When their mothers use to spell their name through the cold
Minute by minute
With their nurturing hands,
Slowly waving them in,
Until autumn finally arrived.
