We had a winter thaw here today and it reminded me of this poem of mine from 9 years ago. It's not spring here but it is beautiful here today.

From where I stand I see the thaw
and on the frozen floor
the sun upon the glowing crust
is glistening bright and pure.

Upon the rolling marbled hills
the glossy snowdrifts ride.
There is no place nor earthly thrill
like springtime greenwood life.

A musty scent is on the air,
I lift my head and breathe.
Out of the sky I seem to hear
a calling on the breeze.

The sound of God and life and wild,
the sound of earth that grows,
out of the wind that whispers by
the sound of trees that moan.

I know just why it is I care,
I bend my head and pray.
I cannot lock them in my heart
these tear drops on my face.

the assured expectation of things hoped for, the evident demonstration of reality though not beheld

It may be a repeat, but it is new to me, and I thank you for re-posting it so those of us who haven't read it now can.

I like that you combined natures best with spirituality. Good combination.

I enjoyed reading this Eric. Thanks for the repost.
All my Conn. family have just about had it with the snow.It is still hurting them and they are at their wit's end. After the Sun begins to shine again a lot will have to face flooding yards and cellars.
This has been a record winter for them even, gowing back to before my time. And I know for a lotof other States also.  best to you. latearrival

Eric...The wonder of that first whisper of spring is something I think all people share. Lovely words about it.

Hah! What a timely post, Eric, in the midst of a horrible winter for many people. If they are fortunate enough to read this it will give them hope and inspiration that all is really not lost after all, and spring is just around the corner. Nice work.

Ah, you painted a beautiful picture, calm and serene, the bringing forth of new life, new hopes. Enjoyed my friend.

Hi Late
Thanks for the comment and visit.
Yes, a lot of people have been affected by the snow this year and that thaw in the spring brings flooding here in this area too. It's been a crazy year!

Lovely, Eric - and it would be a shame to lock those tears away because they are your heart in motion!
