This is JerryPat, and since my regular identity is having problems, I will post here for awhile.

ensnared inside a memory
for years it has tormented me
fleeting glimpses of days gone by
so real sometimes I want to cry
in the distant a mountain range
looms above me looking so strange
but it is a clue to my plight
I understand and see the light

I know now where I have to go
where flowers of my youth did grow
Wyoming is the place for me
I remember good wine and brie
big country where I left my heart
she stood there and watched me depart
and she tried not to make a fuss
as I left on that greyhound bus

Achingly sad, Jerry.  It scrunched up my insides.

I guess it is sad. I tried to track her down a few years ago, without any success. Memories are good though, I just hope she had some of the same good memories.

Thank you always, Owl, for being here.

A black cat ran in front of me tonight. I'm not worried. They don't bother Warlocks.

It's even more sad that you didn't manage to track her down.  However, I am glad you have the memories - I think she will have memories of you that are just as good as yours of her, but probably not exactly the same ones - which is one of the reasons it is sad that you didn't manage to find her again - you could have shared and thus multiplied the memories for each of you.

I agree, Owl, one hundred percent.

I guess this is what you could call sweet and sour memories. Well written.

Naw, I doubt I broke a heart, Eric, it was merely one of those ships passing in the night that I've never quite gotten out of my mind. Good grist for a poem though. Appreciate you stopping by.

Thank you Lori. Her name was/is Dorothy Connine. A real gem.
