I once sat, stood,
posed
beneath that great spire, the Eiffel Tower
and mourned an unrealized dream.

and now I sit, I stare
beside the Vltava
counting the bricks
of the battlements

the steps of lovers
on Karlovy Most
(Charles Bridge)
the dim lamplight and the statues of saints guiding our way

the spires
the modest towers
the rose bushes that line Petrin Hill
and the steps to St Vitus

little did I know
little did I see
beneath that Tower
I see now...

that I have been living that dream.... all along.

True enough, sir. Sometimes, while staring at t he clouds, we fail to notice what is at our feet. Excellent...

Those who appreciate what they have in the moment are the richest people in the world.  Enjoyed your poem.

Occasionally I read something that makes me wake up and say "whoa".

Coincidentally (or not coincidentally) I recently had a conversation with a friend regarding places she and I would both like to see before we leave the planet.

Prague is my unrealized dream

Let me go take a look around here to make sure I'm not there yet.

and thank you

This is an awesome poem. I never been to France. I would love one day to go to England though. See a friend I knew for awhile in the states who moved back home. I truly enjoyed the read!

enjoyed reading your work...reminds me of an old saying, "It is not the view, but the viewer, that makes the watching special."
