Lost in thought

I wish that I could fill up all the
empty places deep within
and steal all the darkness that
has leaked into your skin.

I know you don't see beauty
when you look into your eyes,
but I swear I see it clearer
than the brokenness inside.

And I wish that you'd been held and loved,
and nurtured and adored.
And I wish that you had not been left
always needing more.

Because you're beautiful, you're beautiful -
it radiates from you.
And I wish these words could be enough
to make you see it, too.

This is amazing. It should be printed out and given to everyone (male or female) who feels less than they are..

Oh my. I lived so many years with the feeling you have described. Decades really. No matter how many time I was told that I mattered. No matter that I was proficient in my work. No matter how loved I was, none of it was enough and I spent so many years chasing my own self-appointed inadequacies around that it is only by some intervention with a higher power perhaps that I survived to be who I am today. This is a GREAT poem and I'm saving it.

GG. You are a master poet.I am so happy to see you here. You do not know how many people you have touched with this poem. For most of us have been where you are speaking of. Somehow I have a feeling it was also written for you as a reminder..love to you, latearrival

this is a lovely write...and yes, should be shared with many....says so much with its healing tones

"I wish that I could fill up all the
empty places deep within
and steal all the darkness that
has leaked into your skin."

....loved that opening stanza...especially the last line

This is beautifully written. I am sure for mot girls this would be enough to hold on.

This is a beautiful gift of compassion for whomsoever it was intended.  If you haven't given it to her, it is a travesty of justice and of all that is right.  Please give it to her.  She obviously needs to receive it, and it is a better gift than a million dollars - it's worth cannot be measured.  Lovely poem too.  If it wasn't intended for anyone in particular (which I very much doubt), I am sure you can find people who need it desperately.

deVine,
thank you. I am afraid it is far too many of us...

JerryPat,
I hope that the lies have faded away and been replaced with the beautiful truth of your worth, the joy of your purpose, the wonder of your life. Thank you for your words. Take care of you.

latearrival,
I hope that it has reached just a little bit of that emptiness in at least someone. It was written about a sweet friend of mine, and I feel a little naked admitting that you are right, it is also a reminder for myself. I've not written much for a long time, but these words spilled out of me and I felt the need to stop by. So good to "see" you again.

Steavenr,
I am so sad sometimes as I talk to people and realize all of the lies they believe about themselves, all of the shame which is not even their own but seems to have leaked deep down within them, and they do not know how to make it go away. sigh. Thank you for your reply.

Angel,
There is much more to hold on to than this. Much more life and reason and hope, but I do hope this can be a reminder. Thank you.

Owl,
sigh, I haven't given it to her. Maybe someday, maybe soon, but just not now. It is a scary thing to hand someone words like these. It speaks about myself as clearly as it speaks about her, and I am not sure I am so willing to be seen yet. Thank you so much for your encouraging words.

faith,
thank you! I am very glad.
