where were you when I couldn’t read
and all I could see on the road-map
were lines and pictures and squiggly things
never learning my way or plotting my path

where were you when I lost my shoes
and all I could wear were the socks
you gave me that one Christmas morn
when you were there to try them on...for me

where were you when I could not hear
what my soul was saying to my heart
in words that seemed empty
from their very start

where were you when I came back
from that place I went alone
to find myself and how I got there
with feelings that I alone swore...to own

where were you when I couldn’t say good-bye
and I couldn’t even say the words
that were frozen in the breath-work of time
obscure if spoken, if not…then absurd

where were you...my heart wanted to confide
‘til I heard you whisper back...by your side...always by your side

Ahhh, and all's well that ends well, steavenr. Happy endings are not always in our future.

Love the flow of this Steaven
I really like the ending and this part.

"where were you when I came back
from that place I went alone
to find myself and how I got there
with feelings that I alone swore...to own"

Yeh, I know this one.

Good stuff!

James...thank you sir for reading and commenting

Jerry...and those happy endings we tend to call blessings...do we not?  Thank you for reading taking the time to comment

Eric, isn't amazing that the parts of our lives we do not wish to share are indeed the ones we have...thanks for stopping by...I appreciate it
