CAUGHT UNAWARES
28 January 2011

A long ago any song
in a sort of remember voice
bites into my breath
paralyzing today
and the yesterdays roll
smudging the dark
and sun-tingeing the light
and a smile
relaxes
my toes.

That is some kind of song, Owl, to relax your toes. I understand that though, and your poems is just wonderful and catches the imagination perfectly.

Each night a little before I go to bed I got to youtube and listen to a variety of singers/bands.

Thanks, Jerry.  Smiles!  Yes, sometimes I hear a song or a singer – that catches my breath and throws me back years – the song doesn’t necessarily remind me of a particular person or incident – just a vague time of my life, and the memories' sharp corners are blunted and rounded and nostalgia overtakes me for a good long while.

What a lovely idea to listen to music every night before going to bed! I am going to remember that to suggest to people who complain of insomnia. Unfortunately if I listen to utube, my computer memory, or audio program or whatever, isn’t sophisticated enough or updated enough to be able to listen without several long interruptions while it is rebuffing or re-whatever-it-is-called.  I suppose it is a matter of finding out what and updating something.

Thanks for the lovely things you said about my poem.  I am glad you enjoyed it and “got” it and lived it.

You write with such class Diana.
Sometimes the moment can really overtake a person and the good times once enjoyed come with a relaxing contented smile.

Loved this write of yours.
Peculiar how it goes. I picked up the Telecaster the other night and I was in the mood to create and nothing would come through my fingers, there was a such a canyon between my mind and fingers but yet I remembered some things that I loved to hear and the memories came flooding in.

Eric you say the loveliest things.  I am glad you were so much a part of my poem.

Steaven, thank you so much.  You, too, smile me to my toes!

These are so good, Diana.

You keep catching me unawares, "a smile relaxes my toes"

That is just perfect--and this is good medicine.

My new puppy has chewed through my power cable.  I hope I can get one today, but may not be able to get one until Wednesday, if at all as my laptop was bought in 2007.

I don't have much battery power left.

Just explaining why there may be no response from me, if there are more responses to this poem.

Thanks, Garapan (I think).

Thanks, Karen.  Smiles.  I am glad you enjoyed it.
