.

Snow falls around
Old golden spires

A sound of bells
On lamp lit avenues
Is that jingling spurs
On wooden stairs

Candles
Will burn for one
Who never comes
Poems written
And pining sung

Still Vera will do
With what and who
Is readily near
For life is short
And not young for long

While Aton knows
The value of caviar
In bringing
Silk garters down

Love it. Short lines, short stanzas, concise and to the point. The old problem of one totally in love with love and one totally in love with lust. Great!
