What are we to think about his demise?
This faker of medieval poetry,
He had both, detractors and his allies.

A poet of the day, he set his eyes
Back to olden days with apparent glee.
What are we to think about his demise?

He was young to be poetically wise,
A well-versed man, of that we all agree.
He had both, detractors and his allies.

What made him decide to perpetrate lies?
Did devils send him on his medieval spree?
What are we to think about his demise?

He fooled everyone with Rowley's glib guise,
A pseudonym for his medieval debris.
He had both, detractors and his allies.

Arsenic killed him, but why did he die,
Suicide? For syphilis kills by degrees?
What are we to think about his demise?
He had both, detractors and his allies.

This is one thought provoking poem but I like it.

Hard to say what really took ol Charlie out.
Tough right wing political detractors?
The lies are custom made for many poets of fable degree.
Might have been a jealous husband, never know?
Poem leans that way a bit.
Very enjoyable and great pic too!

Yup, the cause of death is murky, to say the least, Eric. I sided with suicide because of the agony of syphilis he was supposed to have had. Penicillin wasn't around in those days.
