How faded are you, my rose
in the stillness of an endless night
shackled
sitting motionless
in the unseen moonlight

the only sound and movement
of that cursed and still beating heart
deep within breathing breast
no cause nor hope
but within the rest

and the dim light of a distant candle
that warms the face of an Angel
I cannot see

Such a melancholy poem, martiniat8, but that does not take away from its absolute charm. Reading this is like watching the sun disappear behind an ominous cloud as you sit helplessly and sad. It isn't exactly Poeish, but I believe Edgar would have liked it very much.

You tackle love with an angst that sets your work apart. Gotta love it! (as Jerry would say)

others have described this write far more eloquently than I could ever do, so after the umpteenth read, I found myself memorizing your ending because I loved it so much...masterful write
