Too many days on the road,
Far too often.
Have made an old man out of me.
And the beds in the motels-
The years do not soften,
At least I can claim I am free.

Too many years that I spent
On the circuit-
I never could make the life pay.
Some others got rich.
It depends how you work it-
But I guess I am far past my day.

So I'll saddle my dreams-
And I'll ride the lone prairies,
Out there with the sage and the sand.
Where ever I fall-
I want to be buried,
Say, "There lies a rodeo hand".

I've seen the wild canyons,
And crossed the bare desert,
And watched when it bloomed like a rose.
So I'll saddle a lineback-
Without any bridle-
Allow him to follow his nose.

I'll blow like the wind
On the North Texas Prairie...
No ceasing... By day or by night
I've long thought about it-
It used to be scary...
But now I just know it is right.

I feel like I am on a horse in the country reading these words. I truly enjoyed the read!!!

Love your style. It is nice when you let us saddle up and share a piece of trail with you!

Ah, free, as long a freedom is found on top of bucking broncs and ornery bulls and hoping thhe clowns are sharp tonight.
