two months, less a day when the “two shall be one”
when the girl I give away to a soldier strong and brave
will love her with a heart that shall never fade nor run
because the love they have is a love that heaven gave

spent on one another with a wealth that can’t be reckoned
nor numbered in the thoughts of those who’ll try and fail
for love that’s true can ne’er be measured nor ever is it second
to dreams or wishes or worry’s sums that surely will assail

a two who are one in spirit, soul, and all
in imaginings, thoughts, and reveries
molded and composed
becoming individual
the two
yielding
one

Two individuals, becoming one. A lovely piece,I like the format, its similar to a medal I've seen. Enjoyed.

JerryP,

Thank you for the kind remarks…they are greatly appreciated

DocAngel,

So glad this touched you deeply.  Thank you very kindly.

Trina,

Not sure which medal you are referring to, but glad it jogged your memory…have to admit it was strictly unintentional

katahdin,

…yes, indeed…the sum of it all is definitely love…thank you for your kind remarks

Eric,

Thank you so much for the gracious remarks…it is greatly appreciated

thank you, faithm...I wrote as a kind of countdown poem for my youngest daughter's upcoming wedding.  I meant to write it exactly two months before, but time has a way of interfering with plans...thus "two months, less a day" ...just a little late

ohh, Ida...but, I can only wish (as father of the bride) that my wedding present could only be a poem... ...not
