Beneath this smile
Deep inside me,
There’s this unspoken feeling,
Seems like I’m sinking
Under the pressure
Of being good enough.

Deep inside me,
There’s this unspoken sadness.
The thought of being a mess,
I’m unable to endure.
Why ain’t I so tough?

[CHORUS:]
The truth of life I’ve uncovered is like
Not all scars show, Not all wounds heal,
Sometimes you can't see, the pain someone feels.
If you only knew,
Beneath this smile,
Lies a girl’s cry
Of despair,
Wondering day and night,
If anybody cares.
Beneath this smile,
Lies a torn soul
Crying hard;
Feeling not-so-whole
In life’s boulevard.
If you only knew…

Deep in my heart,
There’s this persistent desire
Just like fuel on fire
Of being liked by all.
Why can’t I put it out?

Deep in my heart,
There’s this aspiring illusion,
It’s a very happy one;
Without pits and falls.
Wonder if it’ll ever sprout.
Because…

[CHORUS:]
The truth of life I’ve uncovered is like
Not all scars show, Not all wounds heal,
Sometimes you can't see, the pain one feels.
If you only knew,
Beneath this smile,
Lies a girl’s cry
Of despair,
Wondering day and night,
If anybody cares.
Beneath this smile,
Lies a torn soul
Crying hard;
Feeling not-so-whole
In life’s boulevard.
If you only knew…

So many times,
The world makes me Doubt myself.
It’s a kind of fear That I can’t tell.
I wish I could find A way to help
Myself outta this darkness I fell… into…
If you only knew,
(What lies beneath this smile…)
Wish you had a clue...

Taking life's slings and arrows is a lonely way to go if there is no one there for you to confide it. We all wear masks of one sort or another.

I like this song. It would be awesome to hear the tune. You should sing it out and share it with us.
Isn't this dancing baby freaky?

This is a beautifully and powerful poem here. I like that it is in song form too.
