remnants of
life past are spread out
within my sanctuary
little things
some important
all part of a life before now
look there
Shattered Hopes and Dreams
not mine
others
my room of things past
tell me who I am
sometimes that is good
most often not so much
this room is not orderly
no
to a great extent like my past
a hodgepodge of things
overlapping
seeking recognition
solace
I stand at its entrance
listening to the moans of Lost Love
seeing reality of days gone by
there, look over there
Glimmer of Hope shines faintly in the corner
a smile creases my face
remembering Joy in My Heart and a Brand New Start
but with a death rattle
Glimmer of Hope's light goes out
in its place
a Williwaw spewed
Incriminations and Accusations my way
they don't know I've made peace
with myself
I've
unfilled my heart
of the Sanctimonious Ones
who were there
pointing, snickering
at my trials, my disappointments
I was told
forgive yourself
of your Sins of Human Frailty
and you shall have peace
and I did as they said
why then
that being the case
do I stand
once again
at the gateway
of
my sanctuary
where all the bones are buried

Even if you do it wouldn't matter. It's all there is and jump on for the ride.
Too many things in front of your eyes at present, simple things, things that can isolate you from your regrets, (we all have them) and allow you the peace of being alive because the alternative is bleak.

There's a red red robin bob bob bobbin along.

Know what I mean?

Great grass roots writing once again Jerry

Oh, you are right as usual, Eric, but there are times, especially for me that I look back and shake my head at things I've left lying in my wake.

Don't feel like you're the Lone Ranger. I've read your words here saying you can't change the past, you're right, but don't sell yourself down the river just because you made some mistakes.

I read the comments here and many appreciate your writing because it touches them, it would be a shame for you not to keep on sharing yourself from your mind and heart.

Made some mistakes, well, welcome to the club. I walked out when my Grandfather was dying because I just couldn't take seeing him go and it's probably when he needed me the most. I carried that crappy feeling around with me for a long time. But, I had to get over it because it was the element of humanity.

Shelf your regrets, they're simply not worth it. Live for the gifts you can give today and apologize when you have to.

I don't think I'm the Lone Ranger, Eric, and the truth is I made peace with ALL of it last October. I still have the need to write about it, however. I appreciate the concern in your words.

Thanks faith, I am always happy to see you here.

Jerry, one thing about the woulda, coulda, shouldas is that they show us we have learned from that experience. Experience is a gift we can share with others. And the way you share your experiences is golden.

Lori, you are most kind and I thank you. Absolutely, if you can't learn from your past mistakes you're not much of a person. If you can touch someone with your writing that is all the good.

Oh, don’t throw any of that away, nor ignore it, Jerry.  It is all part of you, and all the patches on the quilt of your life are what spanned your life up till now and it is good to finger each patch, feeling the texture, seeing the colours and the shape and lapsing into the past, remembering the sunshine and the shadows, basking in the wisdom they have brought you.  There are still many patches to add, and may they be happy and sun-blessed.  Your introspection is very healthy and constructive and very Jean Jacques Rousseau.  I love how you are healing.  I love the poem too, enjoyed meandering through it, looking with interest at each patch of the quilt.

I have come to understand  the wisdom of your words, Owl, because I have been fingering each piece of the quilt for some time now. Some might think I am putting myself down by drawing attention to some of my faults in the past, but I don't think that way. I think it is a long overdue healing that I am involved in. Thank you for being here.

Hmmm.....to speak of your own faults, takes a lot of courage, but as you've stated, its like a healing process. To heal, you must first admit to being hurt. Enjoyed the view of your "room".

I don't know. I guess it is, Trina. At any rate it is something I find myself doing in these waning days of my life.

Thank you for being here.

Thank you, Jerry.  I am honoured by your respect and kind words.  I certainly don’t believe you are putting yourself down, as you are not belittling yourself at all – just owning up and taking respsonsibility for your actions, both good and bad – and that is a good thing.  You are learning to know yourself very well and accepting yourself for whom you are and allowing yourself to be who you are – and that is a wonderful thing, and something far too few people can lay claim to.  As such, you are a role model to follow.  Thank you for letting me help.

I wasn’t able to read your response or reply earlier as I had another loss of Internet connection.
