there are no words
i can say that could ever
express the depth on my pain
rendered speechless by
your abrupt departure
you left me at the precise
moment i needed you the most
your cutting remarks wounding
me as never before

you will not witness
the endless flow of tears
or know what hunger
left me wanting just your touch
or a bit of understanding
the kind most lovers
take for granted day by day

you, who i have waited for
six long years hanging on
in the hope that just once
you would level with me

instead of making promises
you never planned to keep
so much for long-distance romances
that leave you speechless
when they reach the bitter end

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

Ouch! The ending hurts less in the long run than the hanging on. But not at first.

Six years is a long time.  You are worth so much more than such treatment.  As painful as this is to hear, rather now than later.  Healing will take a long time, moving on, even longer.  Some words that are so simple, but have given me much solace many times, are, to the best of my knowledge, a quote from the Bible: This too shall pass.

I Six years is a very long time to wish for returned feelings, but then, that is just my opinion.

Ouch!
This is painful and you captured it excellently.

Lori, Owl & JerryPat-This happened many years ago and I have long since healed.  Thank you for kind words.

Eric-Thank you.  You have no idea how good that makes me feel!

Glad to hear that this is behind you, faith.
May be this poem helped you to get past it.
