Wake up in the morning
Brew a pot of coffee
Fix me a cup
and grab a doughnut
as I go outside to sit
on my front porch

As I sit in my wicker rocking chair
drinking my coffee and eating
my chocolate doughnut
I look at what surrounds me
on this beautifully sunny day

I watch as the bee
buzzes around the flowers
on my front porch
Landing gently on each one
pollenating and making sure
the life of the flower goes on

Looking up I see
a little humming bird
sipping the sugar water
from the feeder
Such a small creation
but very beautiful indeed

I smell the air briefly
The smell of fresh cow pies
as the sun bakes it
in the heat of a summer
morning

Oh how I love taking in
all the nature that surrounds me
sitting on my front porch
It is something
that even in old age
I will continue to enjoy

I used to have a front porch to sit on and I can recall enjoying most of the thoughts you bring forth in this piece ... can't say as though I'd enjoy cow pies on my porch though

You lost me immediately after you brought up the subject of chocolate doughnut. I kept reading, yes I did, but all I could see and imagine was that darn doughnut.

I soaked in the ambiance of this gem, Julie, loving every moment of it, and yes, unlike, Rex, the cow pies too.  Giggles at Jerry and the chocolate doughnut.  Julie, this is a superb way to start off the day.  I hope you are able to end it there too, every day.

sometimes I think we can't really appreciate such things until we get old enough to understand how precious all things are...oh, btw, do you have any glazed ones...

Rex- Thank you for your comment. LOL Cow pies do stink but it brings back memories of travelling to go see grandma in Pennsylvania.

Jerry - LOL Your comment made me laugh. The doughnut and coffee is perfect for viewing nature.

Owl - Thank you for your sweet comment. I shall try to end it there everyday.

steavenr - LOL I could round you up a glazed doughnut but I might have to go to Dunkin. LOL

Carpe Doughnut! Grab me a glazed while you're there. The cow pie brings back memories of grandpa and grandma's farm.

More giggles at Steaven and Lori.

Glad you will try to end every day there too, Julie.  What perfect days those ones will be!
