Fair to middlin' of nowhere

The old war wounds and the scars left behind
have their days that walk me with limping grimace
A change in my weather
or whatever
takes me there...again
like an old friend...
grown bitter over the years
The pain drinks from water under the bridge
over the river of regrets

That water under the bridge is rank and sullied, but sometimes you have to do what you have to do.

Liked the tone of this one, Lori. Regret. The popular saying these days is "I wouldn't change a thing in my past," is such a strange way of looking at things. We all have done what we shouldn't have done, at least, speaking for moi, I have done things I have regretted and WOULD change them if possible.

I know you are right...the past just seems to have a life of its own sometimes and acts like an uninvited guest.

Lori, I love your reply just as much as the poem.

i really like this one, Lori.  Who wouldn't want to have a do-over or two if they could? Your approach was unique and your words beautifully expressed.  Way to go!

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

This is just too cool!

"The pain drinks from water under the bridge
over the river of regrets"

Water under the bridge yet it still comes up into the mind.

Super Lori!!

I love this. The first and last two lines could stand alone and still be great.

"The old war wounds and the scars left behind
have their days that walk me with limping grimace
The pain drinks from water under the bridge
over the river of regrets"
