Between the Lines

The Nature of ..Me

Does distance make the heart grow fonder,
or make it ache from space between?
Does silence breathe the hush of darkness
or mute the feelings failures mean?

What is it I am looking for?
Why do I lose the calmness felt,
experiencing fading highs.
Into the shadows must I melt.
From solid to this liquid state
so softened, pliable I rest
awaiting emptiness to call,
dissolving into nothingness.

Does it always have to rhyme?
Not this time, not in this way.
I'm in a flux this morning's rise,
a surge perhaps will flood my day.
And rein me in or is that reign
or maybe it's the rain we need.
I know not why, the dampness grows
without the drops the sky does feed.
It floods my thoughts and wets my skin
with myst of passion, bathing me.
Bedewed I am, as I arise
and pen my pain for all to see.

Although...

To understand the nature of
my feelings, this is secondhand.
At intervals I ramble on,
wondering where my thoughts will land.
Upon you not, I hope sometimes.
Absorbing me would be a stain,
impurities, immersing you
in colors of me once again.
To reason with me when digressing
as I hike a bit with words,
I lose direction, stroll the blues
and walk the silent thoughts, unheard.

I've laundered thoughts to cleanse my will,
been satisfied with discontent.
Does every thought repel the need
to stop myself from this torment?
Words, my words just saunter by
invisible inking, blue on blue.
Distantly I'm close at hand
reaching out to feel of you.

the worst part comes when one
no longer even has the 'will and
spirit' to even write about the
basal 'tragedy of being' ...

Another beautifully written poem here. I could feel the pain in the words as I read them. I truly enjoyed the read!!!

Maureen~  This is so beautifully penned, made my heart weigh heavy after reading it.  I have also had these feelings, and have made every effort to turn my life around, I have not made a 360 that's for sure, nevertheless I am not spinning my wheels so fast anymore.  It's an imperfect world out there, but there are moments where I stand in aww and feel so blessed.  May you find your peace within and hold it tight.

Many hugs for you, M~

It took me many, many years (decades) to come to terms with my inner self; the longing and the self-guilt. I am grateful I achieved the peace I found before the grim reaper shows his putrid hand.

Nice work. Very nice.

I love this piece, I especially adore this bit

"Absorbing me would be a stain,
impurities, immersing you
in colors of me once again."

I'd walk along the lines of your "yesterdays" anytime Enjoyed.

Be thankful for every person who has caused you pain. In that moment, they became your assistant of growth.

this is so good in so many ways...loved how you drew attention to your words with this:

"And rein me in or is that reign
or maybe it's the rain we need."

...excellent and elegant

Bruce, I may be reaching  "that worst part" and am beginning to wonder where that person has gone...

The_Doctors_Angel_32, thank you for your response. I love your proverb "When the family is together, the soul is at peace - Russian Proverb"

mikeandrew, This was written a while ago making me wonder why those thoughts and words have "stilled". Thank you.

Lori, sometimes turning around doesn't work and one just accepts so as to be able to continue on. You are blessed with your family. And you sound  very content. Always wishing you the  best~~

M

JerryPat, You make me smile. There are just so many obstacles in my life that I am trying to overcome. Some day I will be free of them even if it takes the grim  reaper to do it for me Thank you for reading and responding.

Karilea, I am beginning to backtrack a little in my life and methinks you may be seeing "that" which I once long ago promised you.

M

Trina, thank you so much for your kind reply. I am not sure anyone would ever trade lives with me or walk my lines if they had a choice.

steavenr, ahhh well those rein/reign/rain  words have special meaning to me and would in the past be seen alot in my writings.

Thank you everyone for indulging me my past.

The damage we do to ourselves, with our thoughts, is often worse than that done by others, because invariable, and uncontrollably we point the finger of "I" having been
the cause of whatever the cause we suffer is – whether "I" was at fault or not.

"I" always shares a certain amount of blame, and is never the total blame, but recovery is the act of acceptance and understanding that what's done, is, however unfortunately, done, human nature being what it is.

Retrospect is creation of the future, my friend.  It is the dawning of a new day, and learning to live under its sky.  Live it, but with an open heart and sunrise coming from a slightly different direction.

My heart, as usual,

jimmy
