You can grill squash
You can fry squash
You can even steam
and roast squash

Some people think
it is the best
vegetable to eat
Some think they
will gag or get sick

Don't forget
to season the squash
for the taste is
better if you add
some salt and butter
or even some Mrs. Dash

Without the seasonings
squash is mighty bland
A bland squash
then turns into a
trashed squash
Rotting away
in the garbage heap

Squash is a
vegetable of many tastes
If used correctly
there will be many
a happy face

He he, yeah, Ummm I love this.
Like it in the oven with the skin still on.
Ma used to put brown sugar on it.
Then put a little butter after it's cooked and go right straight to seventh heaven.

YUM!

Loved this and the truth about such a veggie.

thinly sliced and fried in butter, served with still a slight crispness ... or just make zucchini bread

I liked what we called acorn squash, sliced super thin, rolled in salt, pepper, and flour...then fried to a crisp perfection...your write was a blessed remembering of simpler times and better tastes...and, if you can't tell...loved your write

I love all kinds of squash, even the spaghetti squash. I used to grow squash in my Conn. garden. I made tons of fried zucchini. The family ate it right off the stove and had it half gone before I could finish a batch. Squash is very versatile too. I loved your little ditty..lateattival

You're right, Julie. You just have to know what to do with it. Cute poem.
