Lost Scattered Mind

Once the gray begins to recede,
once that happens
the argument begins, Moral and Rancid
finding ways to belittle, uphold
Old Gooseberry,

quite literally, two voices banging strident
and my head aches as they volley
retorts back and forth,
back and forth…

She will write of white silk clinging
to tree arms, how they look warm…

until Old Gooseberry leaves behind
the Cold kiss

and there it is again…
the beautiful moment, erased as if
it never existed,
by a mere thought…

Oh, she will write of beautiful,

but sees the honesty of life,
feels the heartbreak of loss,

even though she declines to weep…

oh, it will catch up with her,
eventually…

I admire her strength…

That’s when Silence takes over,
drowning Old Gooseberry’s companions
into oblivion
and the duller, darker gray returns
hoping to shield until healing begins

and in the Silence, that is when the tree arms
are warm, with white silk dripping wet
before the freeze, that is when the
cavern sounds clear their call,
knowing where warm hearts wait in healing,
beckoning come

and the lost scattered mind
hears them, their calm quiet
warm heartbeat sounds of

here, where you can cry
and no one will know…
I will hold you with Silence,
and Warmth, and bear you into
tomorrow,
when the gray will recede once again
into blue, and rainbows will be found
under the Sun…

even in the dead of winter…

where all is natural
as it should be…

It is then the third voice of
Sanity whispers

and I crawl
to the cavern of Knowledge
to heal.

A battle within can be the catalyst which frees the soul or it can deep six all restraint. Old Gooseberry spawned from Hades is a formidable foe in this tug of war. Although I feel you have written in a personal vein that I am not aware of by the mere fact that this is an old poem, I understand the pull and tug of inner arguments.

Intolerant people are the people who do not believe the way we want them to, which makes us intolerant by default.—July 26, 2010

Ah, those voices, you can never really drown them out completely. I adore these lines:

quote:
even though she declines to weep...
...oh, it will catch up with her,
eventually…

Enjoyed.

I read the players and I ache.  Hang on to the trees warm with white silk.

It may be about a tug of war but you write it and it becomes a ballet of words.

Thank you, poets.

Jerry, life, indeed, is a battle...

Trina, no dear, they can never be drowned entirely...until, I believe, the very end, and then? well, it's anyone's guess...

Diana? Tenaciously, dear, tenactiously!

Julie...you are so right!

Lori...just wait until tomorrow night!
