where the wild flowers grow

I hate to inform you but you are delusional,
if you think after everything
that I could love you again,
you escaped unscathed
when you took my armor.

Since I have left that place I've found
pockets of silence across the Earth,
and I am quite certain I will linger inside,
though most would say,
they have disdain for quiet,
it takes courage to know its worth.

Exploring within yourself
is a solitary thing
but you wouldn't know,
'cause you've never been alone.

They say we should fit like a puzzle
that we should wrap our fingers with circles.
Think of the children, they say, but I
have never been one for living in pieces,
with you it always feels
like something is missing,
and I'd never wish it upon anyone
to live or love that way.

I can be the one to disillusion you,
Time is going to slip away,
and who are you to dictate
how I should choose to waste it?

I will let you live your life afraid,
and take which ever path you wish to take,
but I cannot continue to make you feel safe,

in solitude I've found all the truths
you'd kept so hidden away,
and I'm happy to inform you that
I have no need for armor,
I have strength enough not to stay.

To all intents and purposes, it appears that you took the route I took in 1974.  I foudn it very, very hard, and very difficult to make the decision to eventually take that step - but after having taken it, I never doubted for a moment that it was the right one.  However, I always felt that it was a great pity that it was necessary, but for me, necessary it was - and it appears to me to be the same for you.

It is very, very hard, Kaoru and there are hard days yet to come, even 30 and 40 years later and more, but, in my humble opinion, without knowing your circumstances, I believe that you took the right route.

Hugs and strength for the decades ahead

Deep thinking on this and you penned it very well.
Sometimes you just have to do what you need to do.

Very good!

When you come to a crossroad the trick is to not tary, but strike out alone to find what is left of yourself. Owl got it right.

Your conviction is admirable.  The whole idea of living in pieces says it all.

You write with a fine tuned pen and it's great reading you this morning.

i know how this feels...it takes courage to do what you've done...very well expressed here...a moving and powerful poem!

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

Meghan,

Welcome back.  I have missed you.  I totally agree with what Ida said.  You are quite the poet and quite the woman.

It's good to read you again.

Thanks you, everyone, for reading.

Kaoru, I am glad you are coping so well - you probably think you aren't, but if you think about it deeply, you will realise that you are.

Very well written
thanks
How can we know the value of anything?
When we try to measure it we find that our ruler is not the correct one or it is not the right time. So we have to wait or rely on our instinct. I am always amazed at how often I am wrong.

It is enough to know that you are worthy of love that you are special and that you are loved.
If this is not enough, then truly you are alone.
I wish only good things for you.
