Ghost In The Machine

In a holy moment, in a blur of white wings
amid these Colfax Avenue junk store things
she rises in my sky and blossoms like I knew she could
I've got plans to suss out things she needs
an anchor to her burdened ships lost at sea
if I keep her propped up with my heart then we'll be good
her pinned butterfly grace can't get enough of
every flick of her wrist I still believe it's love
yeah I believe
will she receive?

For every sign that dots her love's highway
I still can't see
for every light that paints her dark interstate
I'll never be the one
to be haunted by the ghost in her heart's machine

Outside a standing ovation rain falls down
I'm lost on the cornerstone of smile & frown
she trips out and my wires have become disconnected
I've got bottles of pills to spread neatly around
details on the ceiling I find myself staring down
I'll have my way into her if I can keep her heart addicted
to all she hides away, everytime I give her a call
she says she's not the girl I think she is at all
but I believe
she's my reprieve

For every night spent lonely on her roads
I still can't see
for all the love she has bottled up to explode
I'll never be the one
to be scared of the ghost in her heart's machine

Incandescent and never translucent
her understanding of love
follow the scent to where she went
chasing down what she's dreaming of
and I can't see, I'll never be
the ghost in her heart's machine
but I believe

(Watch her fall down)
in a blur of snow white wings
(watch her fall down)
in a moment she will sing
(all come down)
to the highway tonight
(all come down)
and drive it out of sight
she will be kissed
never will she resist
and in every slight flick of her wrist
I believe, I believe, I believe
I'll be the exorcist to the ghost in her heart's machine
I will believe
I will believe
