we do not write about
what we do not know
the so-called visionaries
in a frantic world
savoring chances taken
mourning lost opportunities
advancing with unmatched passion
a mere reflection of our double-life

we do not write about
what we do not know
but of the esoteric
world inside our heads
of displaced bullets
or the bothersome sometimes
bull-headed black holes in our souls

we do not write about
what we do not know
but of pain and suffering
or pleasure (possibly pure ecstasy)
and sometimes someone listens
to the stirrings of our souls

There must be a poem in here somewhere.

I somewhat agree ... though some of us occasionally write a little fiction ... but, it is something we sometimes wish we knew ... or even sometimes, things we're glad we don't

"and sometimes someone listens
to the stirrings of our souls"

Isn't it the truth?
This is a real good ponder.

I think you are basically right, faithmairee. Most poets especially, write about what we know. We might expound on it from time to time to make the poem better, but poetry is a personal thing. We are wed to its words as though married to them.

ah...now, this is really good...I agree with all those who said you are a pleasure to read...and this: "bull-headed black holes in our souls" was my favorite expression in a write of excellent phrases
