we had both donned our gay apparel
jeans and tee shirts and some laughing
about how it didn't used to be that way
and now she was smoking her medication
while I was sipping mine more slowly

the annual re-reunion we did there
twice a year under the bill board sign
where her dog was buried since 93'
and we both still missed his heart
keeping us together just for the petting

we did small talk and a box of wheat thins
burried some more regrets under oblivion
and placed a beer can on top to mark the spot
she said she would not make the trip in june
said doc gave her til april at the latest

I said I would come here for the resurrection
just to see her and gypsy go to jesus heaven
and maybe I would ride along for a ways too
to watch them play fetch with one of her shoes
and maybe catch them both looking down my way

in case my leather didn't really turn into stone

You never cease to amaze me with your story telling and imagery. Enjoyed.

Love the highway series.

Taking a page out of the great unwashed here and doing a bang-up job with it. Down-home gritty and forlorn with just a touch of kickass. It was all there for me, and I thank you for it,

so carefully crafted...so very good...my favorite line: "burried some more regrets under oblivion" ...as far turning into stone, I wouldn't worry about that, Niobe

A wonderful, nostalgic love poem with an interesting spiritual twist at the end. Passionate but not sentimenal. Great imagery, especially the subtle dog references carried all the way through. Bravo!

Exceptionally poignant, dear D.!

You have such a unique way with the scenery of highways ...

This series would be such outstanding material for a book. You said repeatedly you will not publish, but why would you want to deprive a vaster public from enjoying your masterpieces?

Love,
Margherita
