There's something to be said about living in a foreign land
not knowing the language
and everything you hear is just babble
lost in your own world, your own mind

and suddenly a conversation passes you by
you hear one sentence in your own language
"just so long as you are aware of her..."
like a message from God

you reach the end of the slippery slope
that moving escalator down the subway slide
the thoughts of your precarious relationship
you look up to the map of the line

left or right?
which side is the "right" side of the track
and all of life's decisions become that simple...
which train is going forward and which one is going back

hours later the truth about that person
comes into light
removing the blinders where...
everything comes into sight

and you say...
"Whatever...
after all...
Tomorrow is a new day"

The little snapshots of yours are a panorama,
kind of like surround sound in poetry.

Here,  have some cool beans in your martini~

I've said it to others and others have said it to me, but I've never said it to myself

This is very clever and well written. You are good at this poemnicallinessity stuff. I'm thankful just to speak English without much stuttering. It's a good language.
