She opened the dusty book
where the wisdom of ages
lay dreaming...
awaiting a seeker.
Pages of forgotten knowledge
flickered like a candle
on the altar of some unknown god
and then burst into flame.
The fire consuming the shadows
and crackling with magick.

Snap, Crackle and Fire in the hole, Ida. Like the way you lull the reader into a sense of calmness and then pizazz! you sink the knife.

Wonderful, Ida.  Makes me want to run down to our second hand book store but things to do that are so tiresome.  Sigh!  When I do get there, I will remember your words.

wish I could stumble upon some of that
"wisdom of ages (as it)
lay dreaming" ... and flaming knowledge
  to consum(e) (all my) shadows"

a most 'magical' write !!

Thank you all for your kind comments. I haven't been writing much lately. I think my muse has been sleeping on the job. I hope to be more productive in the coming year. Actually, I wrote this poem about a book I bought from an old man at a swap meet when I was about fourteen years old. I still have it.

Ah, Ida, what is there left to be said? I'll just echo everything before. Enjoyed.

Don't you all just love it when someone like Coco (thank you, Coco) brings poetry to the top ... poetry that we have not seen for some time.

I love that!
