Snowflakes
by Linda L. Dowd

+*+*+*+*+*+
As snowflakes fall in slow descent
from skies of heather blue,
they shimmer in the morning light
~ Sky sparkles in rainbow hue.

Fine filigrees of ice-limbed trees
are strokes of Nature’s brush.
All is silent and so serene
in the mid of winter's hush.

A coverlet of mantle white
is blanketing Mother Earth
~ warming Her thru’ winter months
'til the blush of spring's rebirth.

As snowflakes fall in slow descent
from skies of heather blue,
they shimmer in the morning light
~ Sky sparkles in rainbow hue.

Wow until i read this i never actually relized that snow is like earths blanket. I liked the fact it made me think and picture the earth sleeping with a blanket covering it.

Very good imagery

This is truly so beautiful and beautifully written! I loved the imagery it creates, and it has such a warmth to it. Really loved this stanza:

"A coverlet of mantle white
is blanketing Mother Earth
~ warming Her thru’ winter months
'til the blush of spring's rebirth."

Just lovely!

Dear  Linda, your poetry is so peculiar that we miss it sometimes, this is a kind of perfection about snowflakes, the words are light and soft like the snow and the poem works beautifully.

happy new year

What a wonderful, delightful discovery I made right now by finding this snowflake gem.

Oh, dearest Linda, I miss you so!

The above quoted verse holds the power of trust in Spring's rebirth and also the hope for seeing you back here with your exquisite poems and your all embracing warm and splendid soul.

Loving you,
Margherita
