LOVE LOST, LOVE RETURNED

Which is the greater sin, when love is at an end
To be the one to turn your back, or to be the one who walks away
Tis' better to have loved and lost than never to have loved at all.  Is what They say
I think They have never loved

Which is the greater curse.
To remember a lost love or to have that love return.
15 years to the hour, I haven't cried so hard since she left
I have a new life a new wife I have started from scratch.
I placed the love we had in a jar in the attic of my mind.
Now today that jar fell and aged memories spilled into me.
She loves me now as I loved her then.
I haven't cried so hard since she left
15 years I made my self suffer.  Only to remember you do it much better
What am I to do.

My mind and heart struggle a world war within me
I think and feel and it never comes out the same
Life is a highway with out the signs.
exit ahead, merge, slow, caution.
What is the greater sin, when love comes back in.
To be the one to turn your back, Or to be the one who walks

LC-I enjoyed your heartfelt poem, because it reminded me of my own echoes in the wind of an old love long gone.  You made mention of a container falling and how you are trying to come to terms yet again with the contents.  I had to switch to a different container, one that doesn't dump so easily, and I had to repeatedly put those contents back where they belonged.  Everytime I did this I would think of the lifetime I had built without that particular love and how that person could not share or appreciate it the way I did.  There would also be a lifetime of memories for that person that I would not share or cherish.

So, that old blowing wind becomes like a favorite movie, an encapsulated space and time with outdated feelings and hairdo's.  And as much as I might miss being there, once there I would find those shoes missed everything in the here.  So, here is a better place...and I can always add popcorn!

Thank you ThisDiamond.  Thank you amusemi.  I am beginning to find a new container to place the new and old memories into.  It has leaks but I am trying.
