Lumpy oatmeal makes me crazy!

we stuffed the salmon swollen
with wild rice, herbs and onion
dressed it loosely in a coat of foil
and laid in on low heat coals
in a campfire that lay dormant

as river currents back eddied
against silt banks, caressing sweepers
that leaned dangerously
into the water, dancing to river song

on a sand island, we lay under the sun
as it bedded behind the mountain
on sands cooled by evening air
he touched a part of me
that i held close and lonely

the fish slow-baked into the night
forgotten as fingers trailed stories
and teased bodies to dance
into a dawn of splendid colors

This is simply gorgeous, my friend... *S* I'd be lacing up my boots this very minute if there was a hope for a camping experience like this! *S*

Good grief, woman! You caused me to read it three times, not because I didn't understand it but because I enjoyed it so much. I can smell the salmon stewing...and feel the passion and longing.

Beautifully done...

extremely well written my friend; a beautiful piece.

(be darn if I'd let that salmon go to waste though...)
