that was dark winter
when love was othering me
watching and denying me
when dreams squeezed
from my fingers
played in the place he never touched
where he did not long to go

that was dark winter
when I knew need

light has found me
traced the gathering in my throat
winter song pulse
laid me bare

in this winter of quiet
a small yellow flower
stands in white relief against the naked window

words never heard in this room
embrace my ear
low voice
snug growl of laughter
secrets told undercover
new to this time of year

in this winter of quiet
plenty has become my portion
to give

and to receive

Kate,

I read this last night and savored it through the night.  It's beautiful and shares so much with us.  I like winter.

You sing a lovely winter song, Lady Kate.

I absolutely adore the following visual:

"in this winter of quiet
a small yellow flower
stands in white relief against the naked window"

And yes,

"to give

and to receive"

Love & Light,

Linda
