on the down side of morning
when life has not yet become real
I am quietly deformed
by the set of your jaw
words not said
I am left fearfully alone
unreal
as the morning

I thought I was a woman once

or did I but dream hands that measured me for warmth

did I really know a soft cupping of breast
night breaths playing
on a hungry shoulder
bodies front to back
rocking
in primal recall

no
I am but a place to stream anger
frustration
a place to rub emotions
not a woman
but a place

I am a quiet deformity that afflicts you
on the down side of morning

when life has not yet become real

Sometimes I read poetry and hope against hope that it is not written about the one who has written it.  Know what I mean?  I am hoping.  That is how powerful your poetry is - it hits me hard.

And it is good.

Thank you, Kate, for returning and sharing.

Sad, but a very poignant post dear Kate, I

hope you weren't telling about your self.

If you were then a big hug to cheer you up.

powerfully said !

Unfortunately, I can assuredly relate to:

"I am left fearfully alone
unreal
as the morning..."

well written !!

Very moving...

when one feels as if a piece of furniture someone has stubbed their toe on but refuses to polish for their own clumsiness...

unfortunately...it is one I think more can relate to than would want to admit...

Gads, I'm glad this rose back up
because it is a soft recall
of anger and angst...
lest I forget...

can it all change? I think, under
certain circumstances, it can...

at least this is what this poem
brought to my mind...

and when making one think? Then it is
all good my dear friend.
