                  DREAMS

Dreams to us all are a wonderful thing,
An intrinsic part of our life,
We dream of fortune, fulfilment and fame,
Of a world that is minus of strife.

There are those that dream of paradise,
Of  riches at the rainbows end,
Or far away places with strange sounding names,
Or just to live life through with a friend.

In a dream you can see a beautiful girl,
Her face creased in a beautiful smile,
Then the smile flutters and falters and fades away,
Like the mists on some Ithican Isle.

The business dreams of power and wealth,
Of control of the fortunes of men,
To holiday in a yacht of his own
Or to own a gleaming new benz.

A girl will dream of a lover to come,
Of the day when she walks down the aisle,
On the arm of a father whose bursting with pride,
And all the faces that are lit by a smile.

An old man will dream of a sunny sky,
Of the days when he enjoyed his prime,
He dreams of the good things in life that are free
And just to live one day at a time.

Most of us live in a world of our own,
Or that’s the way to me that it seems,
Life is far better with faith in oneself,
When it’s bolstered up with our dreams.

I love when you write like this, Lindsay.  I am not sure that anyone else does it better.  You draw me in and I kind of just sink into the images and cadence of your poetry.  Thank you for this one.  I love it.

I dreamed I ate a 20 pound marshmellow one time and, when I woke up, my pillow was gone!

I have never dreamed since....

How very beautiful! *S* And how true... I don't think I could face the day if my dreams were taken away... they're what sustain me when reality isn't so great. *S*

Michael my friend, I feel sorry for you if you don't have any more dreams, and although nightmares are no good, many wonderful dreams are shared by most of us.

Dear Ruth, you are so right, a lovely dream,
I think, come to people who have lovely thoughts. I'm sure your thoughts are always wholesome and pleasant.

Mysteria my dear, evidently some of those dreams you have do sound rather erotic but I suppose most of us have them now and again
The worst part of such a dream is that we always wake up

Hi James Thanks for popping in.
God bless you all and thanks to everyone.

I had a dream one time that my girlfriend was pregnant,  with twins,

and when I woke up,

My wife was hitting me with Balladeer's pillow.

Wonderful poem,

Thanks Tracey, but I hope you didn't tell your wife what you were dreaming about or

you might have found yourself sleeping on your own. Take care my friend.

I loved this poem, "Dreams." Loved the cadence, loved the sentiments, and the final stanza is wonderful! Adding you to my library.
