I felt so blest before the curse--
I was better--I got worse.
Beware of them who preach you, truth--
Be prepared. They'll lie to you.

Abundance is ephemeral--
satiation temporal.
Sure enough, the rain will fall,
and the sun shines on us all.

Give gratitude for gracious yield--
we'll slash and burn--fallow that field!
To every thing a season comes,
the darkest night gives birth to sun.

It's not for us to question this.
Even Christ? Betrayed by kiss.
Lessons we don't understand,
our scars, our stars, a greater plan

Hope is faith in empty box,
and like a gift, don't ask the cost.
For all that we have thus received--
remember always someone grieved.

Life itself, sustained by death,
as witnessed by our every breath.

"Beware of them who preach you, truth--
Be prepared. They'll lie to you."

I say this with much certainty
and warn you now, yea, even me...
for though I think I know the truth,
I'm just as blinded by the ruse

of my life sustained by...death.

Sophia, kiss our eyes "goodnight".
She plays triage, for she is wise.
Knowing how much we can take,
she gives us folly dreams to make

us rest, so we can greet the day--
be it rain or shine, cliche'.
Ashes, ashes, dust to dust?
I tell you, even clay will rust
given enough minerals--

it's chemistry and trust.

For all the words I long to say,
it's simply sound that goes away,
but still I wish I could suffice
to heal pain and stop the strife,
to feel the warmth of heart deploy
the armament of strength and joy
once again enlighten mind
erase effects of those unkind.

Love your heart, Serenity.  The poem speaks of having been there.  ~Karen

Trust me she is gonna shine some kind of shine!  No one will ever rub her the wrong way again that is for sure, and you just watch her shine.

This is for you guys -  Hallelujah   No one can do Leonard Cohan like K.D.Lang.

Great job K, great job.

So many lines rock - but loved these, and how true, how very true:

I tell you, even clay will rust
given enough minerals--

it's chemistry and trust.

I do promise to call tomorrow.   Believe it or not, up til now I was sick from flu shots, now that's funny!

You give your insights a special rhythm that allows them to become truly appealing.

Wonderful work.

"I tell you, even clay will rust"

And he did.

I should sleep, before I go? Helen? I hope you understand,'cause I sure don't.

Clay was 51 years old.

I'm sorry that my words so lack. and yes

From one woman I admire to another... it doesn't get better than this... or more caring. *S*

And ser... your rhyme rocks! *G*
