THE OTHER WOMAN

She claimed to be a friend

She claimed to be a lover as well

She had her own life

Her own kids

Why to him did she tell

All her secrets and all her fears

Did he really care

Did he really want to hear

What was in her heart

The things she really felt

We had our own life

Our own fears to fear

So why take hers

Why be there for them

Why couldn't you just forget

Her name and her scent

Was she really that much better

Did you even repent

I tried to make you love me

I tried to make you see

All I asked for was a life

That only you could give to me

But instead you chose her

And to this day you live

As her one and true love

I told myself

Someday I would know

I would understand

When I look at my mother

To see the hurt in her eyes

Nothing could make me see

Or understand the pain she still cries

All I ever wanted

Was a life for us three

To be held by you

And you by me

Never again can we be the same

Since the day you left

Do you even think

What a shame

Probably not

Probably never

That is the price I pay

Forever and today

I make this vow

To be not like you

And love us three

Until the day I die

For now I accept the fact

That the other woman is I

I walk in the clouds, I sing in the dust
