          A  GIFT  FOR  THE  TEACHER

It was on the final day of prep school for the year
When all the small children brought the teacher a gift,
As some gave their present they shed a small tear
They thought it would give the teacher’s spirit a lift.

The florist’s daughter brought her a nice bunch of flowers
While the drapers young son gave her some smart socks,
The milk bar owner's twins gave lollies to last her for hours
And then the local liquor stores son produced a small box.

As the teacher took the box she could see it was leaking,
Then tasting it with her finger she asked if it was wine,
The little boy answered no, in his quiet way of speaking,
He said “have another guess but it doesn’t come from a vine.”

After another taste the teacher said, “is it some sort of beer,
If it’s not a new brand of beer I’m afraid I’ll have to give up,”
“You’re wrong again” said the little boy now showing slight fear,
“In this box I have brought you is a six weeks old pup.

I guess none of us have tasted that which doesn't come from a vine!  Thanks, Lindsay.  I've realized that your mission in life is to lift us all up with your stories and in that place where laughter reigns "hearts join hands and rejoice".

Many thanks to Bobby, Maureen and Helen
for your kind response, and Helen the

purpose of those funny poems is to give folks a laugh. Some people are too glum and

if everyone laughed a lot more the world would be a happier place. have a great day folks.

Cheers! Bottoms ups!
My word, my dear LP, perhaps the boy could bottle the puppy pee and make a killing selling it as a new brand of bresky lol

Love your haha's!
Love you!

Thank you for the smiles, dear Lindsay.

It seems improbable, but well even teachers can have their blond moments....

Hello my dear Lindy Lou, now that might not be a bad idea. He could market it as the new three P wine, perfect puppy pee. Love ya.

Hello my dear Margherita, glad you had a laugh. Yes perhaps she did have a blond moment as you put it, but she could taste worse. Love.

Thanks SS for popping in, it's nice to see a new name in the responses and I really appreciate it, Take care.

Dear Ruth my sincere apologies for causing you to spray your moniter with coffee but

I'll bet you felt better for a good laugh.
Love and a big hug my dear.
