leaves falling like
candied sweets,butterscotch
vermillion,ochre,carpeting
the woodland floor
a sleeping giant
caressing mother earth
masking the smell
of damp decay
death the very
bedrock of life
jaundiced dappled sunlight
illuminating the virgin
seed leaves of
silver birch saplings
the cycle continues...
