Point-less

There comes a point
when aged scotch gets old,
cigarettes get sour,
food turns into a chore,
books grow to be brittle,
movies become something
to stare at between blinks,
music becomes a murmur,
conversation meets a welcomed silence,
and silence reaches a deafening nuisance,
golf morphs into frustration,
swimming becomes survival,
and sex reduces to carpal tunnel
of the hips.
But petting this dog's head
that rests on my lap,
I'm thankful I never tire
of this.

I am sure he knows that he is your salvation when you fall into boredom.

We all can relate in certain moments I guess, but oh how many reasons we have to be grateful for? Many, oh so many!

Good job.

Love,
Margherita

wow, you speak with such a unique voice, and to things that are all so common and universal. MUCH truth here in your words

I like this. It happens but then goes away.

The dog is always there,  ever understanding it seems.

Great image and sentiment here, Joe.  Much appreciated.  I love the bit "...carpal tunnel of the hips..."  Very fine read.  Oh, and I must go just now to walk my beagle on our daily trek around the cove.

Hi, Joe! Now I know what you've been doing in your absence from your ip home! ~ Being bored to tearas! I have to tellya, I that I was rather amused by some of your "pointless" activivites. i.e.

"and sex reduces to carpal tunnel
of the hips." (Quite the visuual there! lol)

Who needs booze, ciggy puffs, sex, movies, books etc. when you have your best friend lying across your lap! Ah! Yes! Life is good!

Linda
P.S. You're looking great! Kudos to your doggie for making you happy! :ange:

Joe - the pet dog will always be grateful for that little pet on the head. Mine is also, as yours...

Well said!!  For me it's dancing.  Everything else is just keeping time until I can dance again.
