In New Zealand Amongst the Ancient Trees

0 posted 2009-11-16 09:43 PM

A thousand years ago
When sea winds
pierced our solitudes
there was nary a sound
to brush away
the dust of our illusions
as the sunset lingered
in the ecstasy of inquisitive delight

Later from the cloak of darkness
I watched you
lit by a moon
that fiddled with barren abandonment
huddled and shivering on the stones
a reflection of pure love
that was lost

Now
when the hours of my days
are numbered
I think about what might have been
without remembering it
for I have nothing else to do
except watch the moon
lay a shroud of white
for me
amongst the ancient trees
where
as a naked man I go

Superb melancholy-tinged write, with great imagery and story line.

tp - pure love is never lost.  It just seems that way and the feint of heart succumb to that.  This is an exquisite write!
