While on duty,
the guard slept sound
as the evil reaper
crept around.
So before our very eyes
he was able to claim his prize.
Like Persephone
she was stolen away...
and winter came.

Ida - Oh, yes, short and powerful ... and sad until one remembers that after winter comes spring and summer.

Wow, Ida. You've honed this piece into a sharp edge that strikes with the force of a sledge hammer.  Nicely done!

Thank you all for reading and commenting. This poem is about my daughter who passed away in the spring of 2000 and also in the "spring" of her life.

Ida, I know you miss her very much... the poem carries a two-edged sword and I felt every word. I've also been thinking of those who have gone before me, and the writing in my heart that feels as if it were etched with icicles.  The thing is, your heart will melt it with floodtides of love!

Hugs....

Dear Ida, you say so much with so few words
that really hit home. I'm very sorry to

hear of your loss my dear but time does ease the pain. Love and a big hug dear friend. Take care.

My dear Ida Belle, your words grabbed me by the solar plexus and I felt there was more to this than the change of seasons, so I went looking for an explanation from you ~ and found it.

After learning that this was about the loss of your daughter, I went back and read the poem with chilling clarity and more understanding. My heart aches for your loss.

Sending as much love and warmth that I can muster up for you, my friend, and sending it to you across the miles.

God bless you all,

Love,
Linda
