Where once my foot tiptoed the meadows
Barely a leaf turned out of place
Meandering through the quiet woodland
Barely a footprint left to trace

Where once I sang of youthful pleasure
Only a whisper in the air
Never a tune to last forever
Nor for a moment linger there

Where once my heart awoke to love
The secret buried itself within
Not even the moon recalls the evening
It draped its moonlight onto my skin

Some blare the loudest brassy trumpet
Into the world from out of the womb
I only ask that a gentle phrase
Be etched eternally onto my tomb

She is beauty.

That's what I think when I read your poetry.  You are gentle beauty.

This, dear Elizabeth, was clearly conceived in a very melancholic moment. We are meant to sing till our last breath and you will sing again in joy, I assure you.

Would love to go for a walk with you upon rustling leaves and inhale God's love at every step. And the rest will fall into place again.

All my love, dear precious Poetess.

Though this poem was low and drear,
You are noticed …

                     …you are here!

I really enjoyed reading your poem.

Thanks for sharing and God bless,

I have walked those leaves with you, dear Liz...where yesterday youth jumped, and know the footprint's ache still felt through time, is also mine.  Hug!

this is great...lovin' the voice in this. not everyone can/should be a brass trumpet in life. but looking at your picture, if all six children are yours it seems you've found other vicarious avenues towards making a healthy amount of noise...and you surely are noticed. =)

Melancholy weaves the thread of your lines, and I know the waves of longing for the vibrance of lavender coral dawns and spring that seems just out of reach where spirit blooms unchained with daily care...and the speech of stones is vanquished in the beating of your heart.

Poignance profound.

Elizabeth:  Your works are illuminated with love.  This is a poignant and nostalgic piece that speaks of a sadness that is sometimes taken out of the storage chest of the heart, and fondly and lovingly examined.  Thank you for a fine poem.
Peace
Jim
