Two weeks ago I lost my brother-in-law and as I wasn't able to go to his funeral I wrote a poem that I hoped would do him justice. It must have been appreciated as it was read out at his service.
I would like to share it with you.
              Donald Pratt

            A True Gentleman

There comes a time in each persons life
When we have to say goodbye to all our kin
To leave our loved ones all behind
Who’ve stood by us through thick and thin.

Don has joined his dear wife Marge
In that unknown Paradise up above
The loved one he lost so long ago
They’ll be reunited there with love.

He leaves behind three fine honest sons
Andrew, Norm, Jack & their gracious wives
Six happy grand-children that he loved
Six kids that brightened all their lives.

I knew Donny Pratt for sixty years
A more honest man has never walked this earth
His word was his bond which he never broke
An instinctive attribute from time of birth.

His principles were second to none
And by everyone was held in highest esteem
Loved and respected where ‘ere he worked
His whole character was supreme.

His early life was an extremely difficult one
One that would have brought down a lesser man
But Don was made of sterling stuff
That served him well since his life began.

My wife and I have lost a very good friend
One who we will never be able to replace
Goodbye dear friend, now rest in peace
We will never forget your smiling face.

Yo Lindsay,

This is an excellent poem about your brother-in-law.

I lost one of mine about twenty years ago.  He and I were very good friends from our days together in school.  I still miss him terribly.  He introduced me to my wife.

I can't say he was a gentleman, he was more like me.  Oh the  rotten tricks we used to pull on people.

Lindsay, I'm sorry for the loss of yours and Norma's friend.
In sixty years, one would could really get to know someone! He sounds like a man that would also appreciate a friend like you!

God bless him. He is now reunited with his beloved wife.

An extremely touching, heartfuel write.

Love & Eternal Light,

Linda

What a wonderful, warm and precious gift you have given to Donn and to all those who accompanied him on his last path on Earth.

To overcome the difficulties of early days is indeed something that shows the qualities of a man.

A most beautiful tribute, dear Lindsay!

Love,
Margherita

I am proud to have read your poem about your dear Brother-in-law. I bet he loved you very much because this tribute from your tender heart is truly heart-felt and a very kind way of saying fair-well. His family must have shed tears when this was read.
Thanks so much.
