My fingers grip the book of my future,
the ink bleeds with memories.
I know it will get worse before it can get better,
my mind is running without oxygen as I struggle to breath.
This shock of cold air reminds me of home,
the sun is shining as the palm trees create this reminiscent breeze.
My love for this new chapter of my life is true,
but I keep turning back the pages looking for you.
I'm ready to feel better,
step off the plane into the inclement weather.
I'll be looking for your eyes,
hoping they will meet mine.
My heart beats for you,
it never stopped.
I've fallen for the second time around,
knowing there is no happy ever after.
I'm praying this book won't fall apart,
because I'm hoping to repeat the start,
I know we can't end until we begin again.

Very foreboding poem, Sara.  Well constructed, with the emotion coming through strongly, supported by solid images.  The only thing that I object to is the philosophy of the line "...knowing there is no happy ever after.."  This makes it read as though the writer is consciously going back to a relationship that she felt she had to escape from initially.  And why would she do that?  There is always a happy ever after, but the control of that rests with each and every individual.  It is about YOU, not them.
Great read, on a snowy day.
Go well
Jim
