I keep pulling gray hairs out so that I can keep denying that I'm getting on up in age regardless of all my trying. My fat left my butt for my belly and hips, now I gotta watch my pressure to rev it back up when it dips. I need a better bra that can take on the fall caused by years of gravity, no matter how I fought to stall. I keep putting off buying teeth to replace the ones missing, guess it's not a priority since there's no one I'm kissing. I suppose it's something I'll have to face, bow quietly and age with grace; throw away all the serums and creams, realize getting old ain't as bad as it seems... as long as it doesn't steal your dreams.  |

You know, there's an old saying that for every one grey hair you pull, ten more grow in. Keep in mind that you are only truly as old as your inner child allows you to be. Goddess grant me the serenity to accept the things that I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can and the wisdom to know the difference. |

I hearya, sistah! Sheesh! Now I understand the saying that "Youth is wasted on the young!" Gravity may help to keep me from zooming up into the ethers, but it is fast getting on my 'Not welcome' list!  Well, I'm not aging as gracefully as thought I would! ~ I am fighting it all the way to the pearly gates! Miss Clairol is now my best friend and I have more lotions and poetions than Max Factor! lol Seriously speaking, I agree with Rachael's wise comment that you are only "as old as your inner child allows you to be." Does your inner child want to come out and play with mine?  ~ But let's avoid the sun! ~ It causes wrinkles!   Linda |

Well, for one as young as you, this is probably not at all timely yet, but of course thoughts such as these cross our minds every now and then. I take this as humourous and it is well done, dear Dixie, but I wish you to realize how far away you are actually from being old! I love your conclusion, that's the way to take it, yes. Just read in a German review of some amazing ladies and their deeds at 90 and 93!!! One has won a gold medal in a swimming contest and the other - the 93 years old - is still modelling. Both look so much younger than they are. They have discovered the secret of life: FORGET ABOUT AGE and don't get disoriented with prejudices regarding age ... Good luck in aging, I am much further ahead than you, but I mostly truly forget about that number ... Love and hugs. Margherita  |

PS: Nicely put. From one who is way up there in years, let me tell you: a. I am in better shape physically than I was when I was 20. b. I have lost more than 40 pounds since I turned 65, and feel so much more energised. c. My mental outlook is positive and life is sweet. As a youth I dreaded old age, but now that I am here, it is a very magical time. Great read, and thank you. This is one of the cutest poems i have euer read. i love the part about replacing teeth that are missing because there is no one u r kissing sounds all too familiar. |

Hee, hee. This was very funny to me. I like every line, especially the tooth and chest. But don't forget, age isn't all to bad....well I'm still a young one. Yet I luv how beautiful many people age, especailly in their hair, it's a lovely color to me. I always loved how my grandma aged...even when she losted most of her teeth and hair. Her inner beauty blew it all, especially her child like attitude (if that helps)? |

Never understood why people are getting upset about their body getting old, it's the one and only thing in life that one has no control over, despite all the face- and other lifts.LOL It's the state of mind that counts. I know people who are very old at the age of 50 and I know people who are young at the age of 90. So why bother, if you keep pulling out your grey hairs, you will be bold in no time ha ha.  Like scattered leaves...my words will flow |

I gave up on the grey, they stay that way now whether they like it or not...and the bald...never really bothered me, BUT!, the gray, what small area it covers not, the bald, wrinkles and spots.....I've come to the concluson after much close and intense mirror reseach, that the young-fellow I though I was until recently, really isn't me any longer...I'm really ... really am, that old fart full of age defects staring back at me from the other side of the mirror. I do compensate though...this 25 year old symbiot living inside this old fart , drives everyone nuts by acting 25 vs 65...sometimes anyway. We can lie about the age, my friend, all we want...what we can't lie about is the life that brought us to this age...whith that one must learn to live if they haven't already accepeted it presence. I know my life...I know most of the failures in it, and what could have been done differently ....but we as a race are not all equipped to S E E --- eyes open or closed. Still, life as I've had it I would prefer to have led over many, many possible lives I could have....I condsider myself blessed to have had and be where I am today, as meek as that may be. Many, Many would give up everything to have what Little I was given.....and of course, I could be selfish and say...I wanT SOMEONE ELSES LIFE....BUT no....I amy not have the best but it could be much, much worse. Thats my basic attitude, poorly wrtten as it is (I struggly to stay awake here).... See Ya... j. |
