My books, these men
these poets, my friends
do fill the bed I lay

In pages writ, on fields of fret
here does heart
dismay

with heavy lids, and words I fed
now sleep
where pen
doth lay

Martiniat8:  Nice form, with finely trimmed words to describe the thrall of the Muse.  I enjoyed this.

This is one of my new favorites.  How happy I am that I stopped to read.  Great work, poetry man.

Thank you, all! I'm honored Alison, I think this speaks for most of us writers here.

Aw, yes! I know this scene well!

Thank you, dear poet, for this new addition to my treasure trove of collected poems about poets and poetry.

This piece reminded me of a thought I had the other day. I saw myself totally naked in a field, pen my only weapon, totally vulnerable and willing to fight the armored warrior, hiding there shielded from his own fear... Thx for the reminder. - Kosmic888

the pen truly is mightier than the sword!

Yes, this piece was creative, but it was true, as well, most of my poems come from true happenings and events in my life. This is one of them, I've got like 8 books in my bed that Ive been falling asleep with, as well as my composition book and pen that are always beside me. It's really difficult for me to sleep without writing something first.
